Located on São Jorge Island, Make It Happen Farm is a small-scale agroecological project that combines organic farming with rural accommodation. It was born from the desire to live closer to nature and show that it’s possible to host guests in a way that’s simple, intentional, and respectful of natural cycles.

The team behind the farm is deeply committed to sustainability, community and authenticity, and the farm reflects that in every detail.
For those who visit, the goal is not only to offer a place to stay but a meaningful experience. The farm is alive and open to participation. Guests are welcome to harvest seasonal produce, join in the day’s work, or simply pause and take in the silence of the island. It’s a space for reflection, connection, and hopefully, transformation.
Sustainability is present in every part of the project. The farm is fully organic, with no use of chemical pesticides or fertilisers. Rainwater is collected and reused, with a total storage capacity of 250,000 litres. About half of the energy used comes from solar power. The buildings were constructed with locally sourced materials such as basalt stone and volcanic ash, and the food served is based on local and seasonal ingredients. Following a circular economy approach, all produce is sold either directly on the farm or in small nearby grocery stores, helping to minimise waste and shorten the distance between production and consumption.
Collaboration is also central. The farm works closely with other local businesses, cooperatives and restaurants, and is part of the Bio Região do Triângulo. They frequently host educational initiatives, training sessions and community-based projects, believing that sustainability can only be truly impactful when it’s shared and rooted in the local community.
Make It Happen Farm is not an accommodation that happens to have a farm. It is a working farm that also welcomes guests. What you see, hear, eat and do is part of the everyday life of the place. The people who visit often leave with the feeling that they’ve experienced something meaningful, and not because it was planned that way, but because it’s simply how things are here.
